Born in Vancouver, John studied classical music on piano at the age of 9, then picked up flute and jazz saxophone, then guitar and bass in rock projects. At 16, he had performed in a Symphonic Orchestra and won many awards for flute. At 17, he was a “hired gun” on guitar with a Joe Satriani tribute on the side and has been on stage with some of Canada’s best including players from Mathew Good Band, 5440, Bif Naked, Colin James Band, Gowan, Jeff Healey Band, Trooper, Prism, B.B. King, and many more...i.e. Performing on vocals with a 22-piece big band at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, and numerous rock concert stages.

In the late 90’s he started the progressive cover band “John Scott Band”, one of the freshest sounding
three-piece bands ever. His uniquely diverse and powerful vocals have sent them to the top of the Vancouver
cover scene. in the 2000's he has sold thousands of his self titled CD “John Scott- troubled life”. He currently composes music for a shaw cable TV show called "When Paintings Come Alive" with the world-famous realism painter Daniel Taylor, and is hired for studio work and compositions for many other artists, performing on guitar, vocals, piano/keys, bass, hand percussion and many other instruments. He also, is the owner/operator of the award-winnning Maple Ridge music school, "JS MUSIC" where he teaches all instruments and vocals to students of all ages, and he specializes in teaching special needs children and adults.
His aspirations are now taking him to new levels with over 200 original songs and always another song in the works.
